OVERRUN

OVERRUN
By Danica Azares

I first saw you
Wearing that purple shirt.
Listening on your ipod,
Watching people on the street.
I was across that road,
Looking at you,
Like there’s some sort
Of spotlight above your head.
But when your eyes met mine,
Everything has changed.
Speechless.
Hopeless.
I just can’t explain.

Who would have thought
You’ll be sitting next to me.
Then you’ll take my hand,
And say we’re meant to be.

Looking back..
You gave me bitter memories.
You promised me
Love without anxiety.
But where are you now?
That love was gone.
You left me stranded
But you got my heart overrun.

With simple words,
You made me smile.
With a dozen of roses,
You captured me.
When you sang a song,
I was in love.
But there is no guarantee.

That I’ll be happy…
That I’ll be strong…
That I would be able to
Face you headstrong
But I’ll try my best
To smile next time
If it’s truly destiny
There would be a sign

That’s what I thought…

Looking back..
You gave me bitter memories.
You promised me
Love without anxiety.
But where are you now?
That love was gone.
You left me stranded
But you got my heart overrun.

On the middle of letting go,
You grabbed my hand.
Time stopped.
You looked at me.
It was true love,
We’re really meant to be.

You told me:
I’m sorry for giving you bitter memories
I promised you love without anxiety.
I’m still here
This love has never been gone.
I didn’t leave you
‘Coz you got my heart overrun.
